Kadyrov's civil suit against head of "Memorial" to be considered on September 10

The consideration of the claim on defence of honour and dignity lodged by President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov against Oleg Orlov, leader of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", has been postponed till September 10. Mr Orlov said that before the start of today's hearing, he had submitted a petition asking to postpone the trial, and the judge accepted his arguments and re-appointed the consideration. He added to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the reason was that he had no advocate.

"I came to Moscow only on August 27; on the following day I came out to work; and I presented the respective documents to the judge to this end. I could neither get ready nor conclude an agreement with an advocate on representation of my interests," said Oleg Orlov.

Let us note also that today a decision should have been taken on opening a criminal case against Orlov. Such claim was filed by Andrei Krasnenkov, Mr Kadyrov's advocate. However, the press service of the Moscow GUVD (Chief Interior Department) could not tell whether the case was opened. Oleg Orlov is also unaware.
