In Rostov Region, miners-pensioners picket the railway

In the Rostov Region, miners-pensioners from the city of Zverevo continue their protest action by picketing the North-Caucasian Railway. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Valery Dyakonov, a deputy of the City Duma of Zverevo.

"Yesterday, on August 20, 65 city residents approached the railway track with a 30-meter long poster saying: 'Miners-pensioners of the city of Zverevo ask protection from the President!'; today, the number of protesters has reached 70 persons," said Valery Dyakonov. "People are standing some 40 meters off the track; 12 militiamen are also here, but they are just watching. None of local officials came to the picketers yesterday or today. Locomotive drivers of passing trains give long signals of solidarity; and our poster is seen to passengers of dozens of trains, running from the south to Moscow."

According to Mr Dyakonov, the miners-pensioners, who strive for their privileges in payment for heating, are ready to resolute actions. "Today, a notification will be sent to the head of the administration of the Krasnosulin District that in the near future pensioners plan to approach the M4 Federal Highway and block it. The authorities should consider their letter within 5 days," he said.
