Rostov miners-pensioners want to ask European Court to accelerate consideration of their claims

In the near future, miners-pensioners from the city of Zverevo, Rostov Region, who strive for their privileges in payment for heating, plan to send a letter to the Chairperson of the European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR) with the request to accelerate consideration of their claims because of the applicants' elderly age.

We remind you that, in the opinion of miners-pensioners, the article of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR) guaranteeing enforcement of court decisions was breached in relation to them.

Valery Dyakonov, a deputy of the Zverevo City Duma, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the Rules of the European Court assume this possibility. "In total, 231 Zverevo residents have already sent their claims to the ECtHR, some 30 claims more are in preparation. Earlier, the Court reported that some of the claims had been accepted to consideration," he said.

About a hundred pensioners have already signed a letter addressed to the Court Chairperson Jean-Paul Kosta, and signing-in continues. It is planned to send a documentary film, showing a difficult life of local miners-pensioners, together with the letter.
