The USA are concerned of human rights activists' murder in Chechnya

Philip Crawly, PR undersecretary of state, said on August 11 that the United States are deeply worried about the news items coming from Chechnya about kidnapping and murder of human rights defender Zarema Sadulayeva and her husband Alik Dzhabrailov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zarema Sadulayeva and Alik Dzhabrailov were taken away on August 10 at 2 p.m. from the office of the organization "Let's Save the Generation" by unknown persons. In the morning on August 11, their bodies with plural gunshot wounds were found in the Zavodskoy District of the Chechen capital in the luggage compartment of their own car.

"We're more and more concerned of the violence against those who stand in defence of human rights, rule of law, independence of mass media and rendering of humanitarian aid in Northern Caucasus," said Mr Crawly. "Such murders cause a freezing effect on the freedom and respect for the law in the society."

According to the undersecretary of state, "it is important for the Russian government to vigorously and immediately hold the investigation of these murders and make those guilty duly responsible", the ITAR-TASS reports.
