CE is concerned of human rights activists' murders in Chechnya

The Council of Europe (CE) has expressed is concern of the murder of human rights activists Zarema Sadulayeva and her husband Alik Dzhabrailov in Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zarema Sadulayeva and Alik Dzhabrailov were taken away on August 10 at 2 p.m. from the office of the organization "Let's Save the Generation" by unknown persons. In the morning on August 11, their bodies with plural gunshot wounds were found in the Zavodskoy District of the Chechen capital in the luggage compartment of their own car.

The "Gazeta.Ru" quotes the CE's statement: "We call Russian authorities to make the utmost to bring culprits to responsibility and investigate possible links of this crime with recent similar tragic events."

In its turn, the Amnesty International has stated today that "a hunt for human rights activists" is on in Chechnya, and called the international community to press Russia with the aim to reach a fair investigation into the murders of Natalia Estemirova, Zarema Sadulayeva and Alik Dzhabrailov, as reported by Radio Liberty.

Human rights activists accuse the leadership of Russia and Chechnya of "regular inability" to investigate murders, which, in the opinion of Amnesty International, can evidence that these murders are committed upon silent consent of the authorities.
