Killers of Dagestanian journalist shadowed him for several days, eyewitnesses say

The car, from which unknown criminals shot dead Abdulmalik Ahmedilov, editor-in-chief of the "Sogratl" newspaper in Dagestan, was noticed by eyewitnesses for several days near the house of the journalist, as they told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Abdulmalik Ahmedilov, executive secretary of the republic's newspaper "Istina" (Truth) published in the Avar language, and editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Sogratl", was shot dead today at about 1 p.m. in Makhachkala at quitting his own house.

It is known that the journalist was shot from a Winchester rifle, and he died from the wounds in situ. Eyewitnesses assert that the shots were made by unknown persons who got out of a "Zhiguli-10" model car without number plates and tinted glasses. They have also stated that had seen the car for several days near the journalist's house.

Ahmedilov was 33, and he recently got married. His friends assert that he was a calm person; his articles were not notable for any special acuteness or criticism. He strictly followed the Islamic canons; therefore, some informants put forward the version that power agents could be involved in the tragedy.
