Court accepts claim of newspaper "Chernovik" against Public Prosecutor and "Rossvyazkomnadzor" of Dagestan

Today, a judicial session took place in Dagestan on the claim of "Rossvyazkomnadzor" (Federal Agency for Supervising Communications) to close the independent newspaper "Chernovik" (Blueprint), where the paper has lodged a counterclaim against Igor Tkachov, Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Dagestan and the territorial department of "Rossvyazkomnadzor" for Dagestan. The judge has accepted the counterclaim.

Biyakay Magomedov, lawyer of the "Chernovik", said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent: "Today, the court continued considering the claim of the territorial department of 'Rossvyazkomnadzor' for Dagestan against our paper."

Right after the start of the session he move forward "a counterclaim to Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Dagestan Igor Tkachov and Territorial Department of 'Rossvyazkomnadzor' demanding to recognize the warning announced by Mr Tkachov on July 8, 2009, and the warnings announced by 'Rossvyazkomnadzor' of Dagestan on July 25, 2009, and on April 28, 2009, to be illegal and ungrounded."

Judge Khanmagomed Shikhgereev has accepted the claim and told the parties that they turned to be respondents in this case.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report.   • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine.
