ECtHR accepts complaint of family of "Ingushetia.Ru" owner to consideration

The European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR) has accepted the complaint lodged by the family of Magomed Evloev, assassinated owner of the oppositional website "Ingushetia.Ru" to consideration, as reported by Musa Pliev, a lawyer, who represents the family's interests.

"About two months ago we addressed the ECtHR with a complaint on violation of Article 2 of the Convention on Human Rights ('Right to a life'), and recently the Court accepted the complaint to consideration," Mr Pliev said.

Also today the Supreme Court of Ingushetia has upheld the refusal to open a criminal case on the fact of illegal Evloev's arrest at the airport of the city of Magas by law enforcers; and he subsequently perished on the way to interrogation. Thus, the cassation complaint of the oppositionist's family members against decision of the first instance court was rejected; and now the decision has come into force.

Musa Pliev has reminded that earlier the court had ruled that Magomed Evloev's detention at the airport was illegal. "It's strange that there are two in fact contradictory decisions," the "Interfax" quotes him.

Mr Pliev has also noted that the suffered party hopes a lot on a fair decision of the ECtHR, since "in Russia, there's little hope," as the "Gazeta.Ru" writes.
