Maskhud Abdullaev's disappearance is on Russia's special agencies, experts in Chechnya believe

Chechen human rights activists believe that Maskhud, son of Supyan Abdullaev, closest associate of Doku Umarov and his probable successor as Amir of Caucasian separatists, who disappeared under unclear circumstances on June 19 in Domodedovo Moscow Airport, could be kidnapped by FSB agents or Ramzan Kadyrov's people.

Maskhud Abdullaev, 22, who was among the Chechen students deported from Egypt, was most probably detained with the aim to put pressure on his father - Supyan Abdullaev, one of the most irreconcilable leaders of armed underground groupings, acting in Northern Caucasus. This was stated by Usam Baisaev, an employee of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial", in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Domodedovo is the workplace of certain agencies: customs and frontier guards; and Russian Frontier Service is part of FSB. Who is behind Maskhud Abdullaev's disappearance, I think, is absolutely clear," believes the human rights activist. "It's an old and well-tested method of Russian special services, starting from tsarist ages."

His opinion was supported by Aslambek Apaev, expert of the Moscow Helsinki Group for Northern Caucasus: "Kidnapping of Maskhud Abdullaev in Moscow is uttermost arbitrariness and a scandalous fact of violence and open demonstration of absolute power agencies' ignoring of elementary legislation and norms of the law. Abdullaev's kidnapping can only be on Russian special agencies."
