In Georgia, condition of two officers-suspects of mutiny is stable

The health condition of two militaries Koba Otanadze and Levan Amiridze, suspected of organizing a mutiny, wounded today during a special operation, is currently stable; they are in hospital, as reported by an advocate of one of the officers.

We remind you that today at night, some 30 kilometres to the north of Tbilisi, during a special operation, Giya Krialashvili, former commander (in 1990s) of "Delta" special-purpose detachment and one of the suspects of organizing a mutiny on May 5 in the Mukhrovani military unit of the Ministry of Defence, was killed, and two more persons searched under this case were wounded. On May 5, the MIA announced remuneration of 50,000 laris (30,000 US dollars) for information about the whereabouts on each of the three searched persons, and on May 13 increased the sum up to 200,000 laris (120,000 US dollars) for information about Otanadze.

"Doctors made operation on the wounded persons, and now their lives are out of danger," the lawyer has noted. According to his story, at present, he cannot comment on the details of the special operation, and will abstain from any conclusions for the time being.

Giya Krialashvili's relatives assert that they learnt about his death from television news. His widow Tamara Shanidze told the Georgian radio "Palette" that she heard about her husband's death from TV news; she was still "proud of the husband" who, as she said, "was a real man."

The eyewitnesses of the incident evidence that last night a shooting in the area of special operation lasted for some 10-15 minutes. The police knew that the suspects would try to leave the capital in a minibus. The police demanded to stop the car, but the officers would not obey and opened fire on the policemen, as reported by the IA "News-Georgia".

Meanwhile, Georgian media reported today in the morning that Koba Otanadze's brother Dzhimsher, his wife and his son of 19, detained earlier by the police, are at large.

On May 20, the office of Georgian Ombudsman reported that the police had detained the family of Koba Otanadze's brother - Dzhimsher Otanadze, his wife Guli Otanadze and their son Georgiy Otanadze. Employees of the office addressed the MIA of Georgia to learn about the whereabouts of the detainees but received no data.
