Special operation underway in Chechnya

On May 15, a broad-scale special operation with participation of units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and Federal Troops was launched in the mountainous part of Chechnya. This was reported today by President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov after his return from the Vedeno District, where visited the venue of special actions.

"The mountainous territory of the republic was split into sectors. Each zone was entrusted to a person in charge, who has the task - to neutralize the detected members of bandit groupings. Should they render armed resistance, they should be liquidated, without attempting to take them alive and not putting under risk the lives of militiamen and soldiers," said Mr Kadyrov.

"We know, there are no more than 50-70 of them, and I'm firmly convinced that in the near future they all will be liquidated," the "Gazeta.Ru" Agency quotes Ramzan Kadyrov as saying.

"Militants will be searched efficiently," President Kadyrov has assured. "For this purpose, various special groups have been placed where they don't expect." For any detailed information on whereabouts of militants' leaders Kadyrov has promised money rewards, as the "Interfax" reports.
