South Ossetia rejects EU's offer to meet with Georgia in Brussels

South Ossetia has denied the proposal of the European Union to have a meeting in Brussels with the Georgian party. Tskhinval said that the reason of refusal was that no representatives of North Ossetia were invited to the meeting.

"The reason of our refusal was in the facts that the Georgian party would have been represented by the Ministry on Reintegration, and no representatives of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania were not been invited to the meeting," said Boris Chochiev, vice premier of South Ossetia and co-chairman of the South-Ossetian part of the Mixed Control Commission, as quoted by the Committee for Information and Press of South Ossetia.

Mr Chochiev has also added that it was North Ossetia, where over 80,000 resettlers forced to run from Georgia found their shelter, and a battalion from North Ossetia takes direct part in the peacekeeping operation, the "Interfax" reports.

We remind you that now, after bombardment of Tskhinval at night of July 4, when three persons were killed and 11 more wounded, the situation in South Ossetia is still strained. Georgia asserts that fire was opened by the South-Ossetian party, while the actions of the Georgian party were exclusively of response and forced character.
