Tomchak: militia did not torture Gaev who committed suicide in Kabardino-Balkaria

Yuri Tomchak, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic, has stated today that tortures were not applied to Zeitun Gaev who had committed suicide in Building 1 of the Interior Department (OVD) of the city of Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria.

Zeitun Gaev threw himself out from the fourth floor of the OVD building with a cry "Allah Akbar!" in the presence of his advocate, the Minister has stated.

According to his version, the cause of the suicide could have been the circumstance that from the very start of Zeitun Gaev's detention he actively cooperated with the law enforcement bodies. "It is possible that after certain reflections he concluded that he had cooperated too actively and decided settle accounts with his life," the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kabardino-Balkaria has assumed.

The Minister has also noted the car of the arrested Gaev contained the equipment for building a new hiding place for long-term residence.
