"The Commissioner said that this arrest is in the Council of Europe's focus of attention, and the issue will be discussed at the PACE debates on Azerbaijan," Aidyn Nazarli has stated.

Mr Nazarli has also added that he informed his client that he had lodged a petition to the investigation claiming to stop the criminal case under Articles 214.1 (threat of terrorism), 283.2.2 (kindling of national, racial or religious enmity by a person through use of one's service position) and 213.2.2 (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The investigation has not yet considered the petition.
