Azerbaijani authorities try to stop the "Real Azerbaijan" newspaper

Late at night on May 18, the editorial board of the "Real Azerbaijan" newspaper was visited by the workers of the Fire Fighting Service of the Ministry for Emergencies. They demanded that the employees of the media should leave the premises since "the fire safety regulations" were not observed therein. However, the employees refused to go out, and the firemen had to leave the office. After midnight, electricity was cut off from the editorial board office.

The employees of the "Real Azerbaijan" newspaper told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the incident should be treated as a "political order" aimed at stopping publication of opposition newspapers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that mother of Einullah Fatullaev, editor of the "Real Azerbaijan" newspaper, who had been sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment, complained that anonymous persons were calling her home claiming that the newspapers "Real Azerbaijan" and "Gyundelik Azerbaijan" should be stopped. Otherwise, they threatened to kill Einullah Fatullaev in prison.
