Doctors who mutilated a child face trial in Krasnodar

Today in Krasnodar, a preliminary hearing was completed on a medical malpractice case, which has resulted in arm amputation of newborn Sofia Kulivets. Doctor - anaesthesiologist-resuscitator Vladimir Pelipenko - and nurse Elena Senicheva are accused of causing heavy damage to one's health by inadvertence, accomplished due to improper execution of one's professional duties (Part 2, Article 118, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). A source in the press service of the Prikubanskiy District Court of Krasnodar has told the details of the court session to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot."

The defendant Vladimir Pelipenko lodged a petition requesting to exclude the data of the medical examination attached to the case file from the proofs of the guilt. This petition was rejected. However, the Court has satisfied the second petition of doctor Vladimir Pelipenko and nurse Elena Senicheva on summoning additional witnesses. Their evidences will be considered at the next court session to take place in Krasnodar on April 16. The trial will be open for the public, the spokesman of the Court's press service told.
