A contract soldier Irkit Res-Tarochin, who deserted from a subdivision of the Internal Troops of Russia's MIA deployed in the Martan District of Chechnya, was detained in the evening yesterday, on April 13.
On April 12 at night, he wilfully left his unit deployed in Novy Sharoy village, Achkhoy-Martan District, having taken a sub-machine gun with cartridges with him.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Military Commandant's Office of the Republic that the deserter who was recruited from Tuva rendered no resistance at detention.
"In the course of inquiry Res-Tarochin said that his aim was to get home. The deserter asserted that his family was in a very heavy situation, and he wanted to see his relatives," said a source.
The investigation on the case continues. According to the source from the Commandant's Office, for deserting a combat post and his military unit with arms in hand, soldier Res-Tarochin is under threat of serving in the penal battalion or imprisonment. The verdict will be passed after the end of the investigation.
The source asserts that there are no evidences that private Res-Tarochin was forced to leave his unit because of hazing or other reasons related to his service.
