Six activists of movement "Why?" detained in Georgia

Today, the police of Tbilisi have detained six activists of the movement called "Why?" near the building of public broadcasting of Georgia, where they held a protest action.

This is not the first confrontation with the police of youth organizations that happen on the eve of the April 9 protest action. On April 4, at 2 a.m., the patrol police of Tbilisi dispersed activists of the youth headquarters, organizers of the April 9 action; their cars were also confiscated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 23 two activists of the oppositional movement "To Save Georgia" and two members of the Party "Democratic Movement - United Georgia" were detained. On March 25, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced them to two months of preliminary custody.

This time, the protesters wanted to enter the building and block the traffic; these were the reasons for their detention, as the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

The members of the movement asked the "Channel One" Directorate to show them the Company's budget for 2008-2009, as the Regnum writes.

The "Georgia Online" adds that the protesters behaved defiantly during their march, which resulted in a clash with the police.

Besides, today a picket at the United Staff of Armed Forces of Georgia in Tbilisi was held by women from the organization "Mothers - for Homeland". They have addressed the militaries not to take part in dispersal of the opposition demonstration in Tbilisi on April 9, as the "Vzglyad" correspondent in Tbilisi reports.
