Budanov to be interrogated on kidnapping of Chechens
Yuri Budanov will be interrogated within the inquiry of the case related to kidnapping of residents of Chechnya in 2000. This was stated by Alexander Sorochkin, head of Military Department of the ICPO. However, all over again, Budanov should be found.
We remind you that on February 10 the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of Russia for Chechnya instructed the Shali inter-district investigatory department to start inquiry on involvement of Yuri Budanov, former commander of the 160th Tank Regiment, in kidnapping and murdering peaceful residents in Duba-Yurt village in 2000.
According to Mr Sorochkin, so far the Committee has failed to establish the culprits. "However," as he added, "a number of republic's residents, when the former colonel was shown by TV, recognized him as a person involved in people's disappearances," as the "Interfax" reports.
The "Echo Moskvy" Radio adds that the inquiry knows nothing about Budanov's whereabouts. We remind you that he received early conditional relief under the verdict of murdering Chechen girl Elza Kungaeva and got liberty earlier this January.
