Ecologists claim that a presidential residence is under construction in Utrish

Ecologists claim that many highly placed functionaries in Krasnodar krai are sure that "president himself" keeps the track of construction of the Sukko-Utrish highway on the territory of the resort town Anapa. The functionaries make a conclusion that the "project is going to be implemented in any case, whatever the protests of the community".

"It is discussed everywhere, by workers of the open joint-stock company "Glavpromstroi" who do the construction, and unofficially by representatives of various departments involved into the process of checking the legitimacy of the construction", tells Andrei Rudomakha, head of the Environmental Watch for North Caucasus, to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.  "There are other indications, too".

The construction of the Sukko-Utrish highway within the protected area "Bolshoi Utrish" of the resort town Anapa has been resumed again. According to the ecologists, the builders of yet another "government residence" during the new Year holidays intend to destroy the nature on their way and conceal its traces.

The works are carried out most intensively, during this time a lot of new trees have been cut, including many juniper bushes, comments Andrei Rudomakha, head of the Environmental Watch for North Caucasus.

The ecologist reminds that the works started despite the fact that the internal affairs department in Anapa had initiated a criminal case on the fact of mass felling of trees, and sealed road construction machinery and petrol-powered saws as evidence. The Azov-Black Sea environmental prosecutor's office recognized the construction as illegal and filed a law suit on its prohibition in court.
