Three militiamen to be tried in Stavropol krai

Three detectives are going to be tried in Kislovodsk, Stavropol krai, for abusing their powers and applying violence with regard to a lawyer. This has been reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent at the press-service of the investigation department under the RF Prosecutor's Office in Stavropol krai.

According to the investigation, the above militia officers, while standing in front of the entrance to the Kislovodsk pre-trial prison, met a lawyer of the Stavropol krai Advocates' Chamber who was going to enter the building for rendering legal aid to his defendant.

"Acting intentionally and thinking that preventing the lawyer from seeing the suspect may help them to more efficiently fulfill their duties and prove the involvement of the suspect in more crimes, the detectives have illegitimately used violence with regard to the lawyer. They closed the metal grid on the lawyer, jammed his leg by it, took him by the throat, hit his head against the wall, thereby suppressing the victim's will and the capability  to resist them, and after this they started to hit him with their fists on various parts of his body", runs the report of the press-service.

When the circumstances of the case were clarified the militia officers were charged with commission of a crime under Article 286, 3, "а", RF CC (abuse of power using violence). The case has been brought to court for considering it at its merit.
