Administration of Makhachkala is ready to give land plots to soldiers-internationalists
Said Amirov, head of the administration of Makhachkala, has addressed the Afghan war veterans, who are on hunger strike now, called them to stop their protest action and said that the city administration is ready to grant land plots for summer cottages to soldiers-internationalists and families of perished servicemen, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
In his appeal to hunger-strikers, the head of Makhachkala has expressed his condolence with the casualty - death of Kazanfar Nurmetov, one of the participants of the action. Said Amirov has stated that the city administration had done everything necessary to prevent this: ambulance doctors were on duty all the time, equipment and medicines were provided.
"In view of the current heavy situation, and outgoing from our capabilities, the administration of Makhachkala is ready to provide land plots for summer cottages to soldiers-internationalists and families of perished militaries who live in Makhachkala and had no such land plots earlier," said Said Amirov.
Mr Amirov has called the protesters to stop their hunger strike, "and the interested bodies and agencies to find some way out of the situation on the principles of legality and humanism."
The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that the Afghan veterans who continue their hunger strike in the capital of Dagestan would not give up their demands, despite the death of one of their comrades and hospitalization of another one.
On October 10, one of the participants of the action - Kazanfar Nurmetov - died. According to his comrades, he had heart problems before; he was hospitalized, but doctors could not save him. According to preliminary information, he died from a heart attack (infarction). Two children remained in his family.
Some time later, another hunger-striker - Iman Sultanov - was hospitalized to the cardiology ward of the Second Makhachkala City Hospital with high blood pressure.
The hunger strike in the capital of Dagestan is held by some 50 Afghan war veterans.
