Khalilov: law enforcers of Krasnodar Territory benefit from Gypsies' legal illiteracy

Law enforcement bodies of Krasnodar Territory can benefit from the fact that Gipsies are ignorant of their rights and freedom. This concern was expressed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Timur Khalilov, deputy chairman of the Krasnodar City Gipsies' National-Cultural Autonomy.

"The main today's problem is poor knowledge of those rights and freedom, which are inherent in Gipsies like in equal citizens of the Russian Federation. Therefore, there is a possibility of breaching these rights by certain persons, and, in particular, by law enforcement bodies," Timur Khalilov has stated on the eve of the International Day of Gipsies annually marked on April 8.

Besides, the expert has noted another vital problem of this ethnic group - poverty. "Our organization plans to hold a range of charitable actions to the sum of more than 100,000 roubles aimed at distribution of bed-clothes sets among the Gipsies of the Krasnodar Territory. We also plan broader actions - free-of-charge first aid medical visits, diagnostic installations, tours of lorry-based medical equipment, etc.," Mr Khalilov said in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
