Arrest of Zaur Magomedov, accused of militants' attacks in Dagestan, extended by three months

The court has extended the custody of Zaur Magomedov, accused of involvement in the militants' attacks committed in Derbent and Makhachkala, by three months. It was done despite the complaints from Magomedov's defence that the proofs in the case had been falsified, the advocate has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 19, 2024, Zaur Magomedov's relatives asserted that law enforcers had planted the proofs during the search of his home. Magomedov complained of torture at the SIZO (pre-trial prison).

Magomed Musaev, the advocate, has added that after he entered the case, Magomedov stopped complaining about torture.

Let us remind you that on June 27, the court arrested a member of the grouping created by Osman Omarov under the article of a terror act. According to investigators, the accused had helped organize the attack in Derbent, but did not take part in it. On July 4, it became known that residents of Sergokala and Makhachkala, Magomed, Khalid and Zaur Magomedov, were arrested for two months on charges of preparing terror acts and illegally trafficking in weapons and explosives.
