Lagunina: Radio Liberty never said that Trepashkin accused advocate Kosik of her links with FSB

The Radio Liberty has nothing in common with the information disseminated by media on its behalf that ex-FSB officer Mikhail Trepashkin, condemned for disclosure of state secrets, suspects his advocate Lyubov Kosik of her tie-up with the FSB (Federal Security Bureau) and work in the interests of the prosecution. This is the topic of the letter sent by Irina Lagunina, editor of the Radio, to Liudmila Evstifeeva, a human rights activist from Moscow who held correspondence with the Radio on the issue.

Earlier, as the "Caucasian Knot" has informed, a message had been placed in the web site named "Radio Liberty/Ekaterinburg" by the website founder Sergey Kuznetsov, Trepashkin's public defender, stating that Trepashkin had allegedly told him about his suspicions that Lyubov Kosik was secretly delivering information to the "opposing party."

According to one of Irina Lagutina's employees, the website svoboda.ural.ru has nothing to do with the Radio Liberty and its bureau in Ekaterinburg. "It's just a theft of our old website," she said.

Earlier, Mikhail Trepashkin has stated that he had not accuse his Nizhni Tagil advocate Lyubov Kosik of her ties with special services, work for the prosecution party and delivering materials about his defence to the opponents. This was reported by Vladimir Shaklein, another Trepashkin's public defender and leader of the Urals Branch of the "For Human Rights" Movement who visited Trepashkin on Friday, October 5, at the pre-trial detention facility (SIZO-1) of Ekaterinburg.

Mr Shaklein said that when he asked Trepashkin whether he really thought Ms Kosik to be an FSB agent, the ex-FSB officer answered that he had not given any information of this sort to Sergey Kuznetsov: "To my direct question: 'Is the disgracing for advocate L. Kosik information disseminated in the Internet by Kuznetsov a lie?' M. Trepashkin answered in the affirmative: 'Yes, it's a lie'."
