In Stavropol Territory, law enforcers' actions disrupt monitoring on election eve

After reports about searches of the homes of the Stavropol activists who had collected signatures in support of Boris Nadezhdin, some observers failed to find themselves on the lists; and a number of activists refused due to fear of persecution. Voters often entered the polling station in Stavropol where the exit poll was held in groups, activists have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the Stavropol Territory, several days before the voting, employees of Centre "E" (Centre for Combating Extremism) began conducting searches of the activists who had been collecting signatures in support of Nadezhdin's nomination as a presidential candidate.

After it became known about the searches, people who had planned to conduct observation at polling stations began refusing or stopped communicating, said Alexander Korovainy, the coordinator of the collection of signatures for Nadezhdin in the Stavropol Territory.

Abuses of administrative resources and calls to vote for one of the candidates were recorded in Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Stavropol Territory and Chechnya before the start of voting at the presidential election; it follows from the "Map of Election Violations".

A resident of Stavropol named Yuri had planned to observe the voting process, but abandoned this idea because of the searches.
