After summoning activist, Gelendjik military commissar loses his post

Igor Ogorodnikov, an election observer from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), who was given a summons at the polling station, has learned from the acting military commissar of the Krasnodar Territory that the Gelendjik military commissar had been transferred to a lower position.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 9, employees of the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office) served summonses right at the polling station to Igor Ogorodnikov and Alexei Lobanov, a member of the election commission. Ogorodnikov treated it as pressure on independent observers. On September 10, policemen detained Ogorodnikov for disobedience to policeman's demands; earlier, Igor had filed complaints against the actions of the precinct election commission. According to law enforcers, he refused to leave the polling station.

On September 12, it became known that Igor Ogorodnikov, an observer from the CPRF, was arrested for 24 hours under the article of disobedience to policeman's demands.

On November 27, Ogorodnikov received a letter informing him that the military commissar of Gelendjik, who had issued summonses prescribing him and Alexei Lobanov to appear at the military commissariat, was fired.

Ogorodnikov has stated that it was the first time in his practice that some government body had reacted in this way to his complaint.

"As my advocate on the election law has suggested, the proceedings began after the situation was covered by media," Mr Ogorodnikov has added.
