Defence demands Zarema Musaeva's hospitalization

The health condition of Zarema Musaeva is deteriorating at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where she is kept, her advocates have stated and asked the court to conduct a medical examination to decide on the woman's hospitalization.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 5, a court in Grozny extended Musaeva's arrest until August 12, 2023. Zarema herself reported in February that her eyesight had deteriorated at the SIZO. Abubakar Yangulbaev, one of her sons, said that during his mother's stay at the SIZO, her health condition had deteriorated significantly and she needed proper medical treatment.

However, the court has upheld the investigators unjustified arguments that a sick woman could escape from Chechnya, Abubakar Yangulbaev has pointed out.

Alexander Savin and Alexander Nemov, the advocates, have filed a petition for an examination of Musaeva's health. They explained that her health was "rapidly deteriorating," and an examination was needed to make a decision on her hospitalization, the "Team against Torture" has reported.

Let us remind you that on January 20, 2022, Zarema Musaeva was abducted by law enforcers from Nizhny Novgorod and brought to Grozny, where she was arrested on charges of attacking a law enforcer. Abubakar Yangulbaev pointed out that she had diabetes mellitus with complications, and people with this disease cannot be kept at the SIZO. An ambulance was called several times to the court and the SIZO to Musaeva.
