After a complaint to presidential envoy, woman from KBR arrested

Larisa Baragunova, the head of the NGO entitled "Union SSR Trade Union", who had complained about a search in her apartment to the presidential envoy in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), has been arrested for two months. She is charged with assaulting a policeman during the search.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Larisa Baragunova and Irina Vorozhbenko, residents of Tyrnyauz, had sent a complaint to the presidential envoy for the NCFD about the searches. Law enforcers seized their phones and documents, explaining this by investigating an extremism case.

Baragunova reported that in 2019 she created a branch of the NGO "Union SSR Trade Union", which, according to her, is engaged in protecting citizens' rights. The Tyrnyauz branch consists of about 100 townspeople.

On March 13, 2023, Larisa Baragunova, 66, was detained. According to investigators, she beat up one of the policemen, when they tried to enter her apartment.

According to Alexander Verkhovsky, a human rights defender, several organizations of those who consider themselves citizens of the USSR have already been banned in Russia, but they do not always contain the abbreviation USSR*.

Earlier, a similar organization entitled "Citizens of the USSR" was recognized as extremist and banned in Russia.
