Activist Yaroslav Savin hospitalized after hunger strike

Yaroslav Savin, the secretary of the Astrakhan branch of the "Party of People's Freedom" (Parnas), was hospitalized after being released from the special detention centre, where he went on a hunger strike.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported referring to Savin's wife that he was detained under the article on petty hooliganism associated with disobedience to a law enforcer. On February 18, he was arrested for five days and fined for depicting a Ukrainian flag in his Telegram channel. On February 19, it became known that Savin went on a hunger strike at the detention centre.

Yaroslav Savin was released from the detention centre on February 22, but was taken to hospital the next morning, his wife said.

All the five days of his arrest, Savin was on a hunger strike; and a sick prisoner was in the cell with him. Having been released, Savin returned home, but felt unwell, his wife Marina Mitaleva said, the "Kavkaz.Realii* reports.

Let us remind you that Yaroslav Savin took part in various protest actions, including those held in support of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"**. The Savin's arrest was the result of his political persecution, his relatives and associates are sure.
