As part thereof, it is planned to call up 300,000 reservists, Sergei Shoigu, the head of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD), has added.

In Volgograd, in the Square of Fallen Warriors, today, at 7:30 p.m. Moscow time, they began detaining protesters against the mobilization. Eight people were detained. In total, about 50 people gathered at the venue, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported.

"I don't understand why they are being detained," said the girl, who introduced herself as Marina.

"We are holding a passive action. Now it is scary to make direct statements and express one's opinion. We came here and sit on the benches," said a young man who introduced himself as Sergey.

A policeman, who detained the couple, has explained them the reason – they had no ID documents on them. The young people expressed their bewilderment about the grounds on which they had begun checking their documents.
