Volgograd Governor gives number of volunteers in Ukraine

Since the start of the special operation a total of 1326 volunteers from the Volgograd Region have left for Ukraine, the Governor Andrei Bocharov has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, the administration of the city of Kamyshin announced the death of Junior Sergeant Artyom Shmelyov in Ukraine. He became the 116th resident of the Volgograd Region, whose death in Ukraine was officially confirmed.

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North-Caucasian and Southern Federal Districts (NCFD and SFD), who perished during the special military operation in Ukraine. The list is compiled on the basis of the data officially announced by the authorities of regions and municipalities.

On September 19, at the meeting with members of the regional veterans' council, Andrei Bocharov, the Governor of the Volgograd Region, said that "hundreds of Volgograd volunteers" have left for Ukraine. "To be more precise, there are already 1326 people, apart from those who left to defend Donbass on their own since 2014," the Governor is quoted as saying on the official website of the Volgograd Region.

Mr Bocharov has also stated that "a large number of residents of the Volgograd Region are ready to defend their Fatherland with weapons in their hands."
