Residents of Zegduleti demanded to return their pastures

In the village of Zegduleti, Gori Municipality in Eastern Georgia, residents held a protest action, demanding from authorities to return their pasture lands that were sold out in 2008. They declared that would not allow the land owner to carry out agricultural works.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that villagers of Zegduleti demanded from authorities to solve the problem of selling pastures to a foreign investor. On December 4, 2021, protesters blocked the local highway. There was a skirmish with law enforcers, when villagers tried to block another road. One activist was detained.

On August 5, Tamaz Shioshvili, Deputy Mayor of Gori Municipality, met the protesting Zegduleti villagers who had gathered in the Sadao District. Several times over the past year, Zegduleti villagers held protests demanding to return pastures to the village, the "InterPressNews" News Agency reported on August 5.

Residents demand an unconditional return of sold pasture lands to the village and do not allow the owner of the land to carry out agricultural works.
