Azerbaijani military killed by mine explosion

Babek Aliev, a military serviceman of the Azerbaijani Army, was fatally wounded by a mine explosion in the Kelbadjar District, the Azeri Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 2, three employees of the ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action) got blown up by a mine in the Fizuli District of Azerbaijan. Doctors assessed their condition as of moderate gravity.

"On August 5, in the eastern part of the Kelbadjar District, in the newly controlled territory, as a result of a mine explosion [...], a soldier of the Azerbaijani Army, Aliev Babek Asker oglu, was killed," the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD reported in its statement, which was translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Azerbaijan has specified that the serviceman was blown up by anti-personnel mine while he was on duty. On the fact of his death, a criminal case has been initiated; an investigation is underway, the GPO said in its statement.
