Georgian opposition demands not to transfer Pitsunda dacha to Russia

Georgian authorities should prevent the transfer by Abkhazia of the state dacha in Pitsunda to Russia, and also make more efforts to return the republic into the country, oppositionists stated at their protest held in Tbilisi.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 21, Aslan Bzhaniya, President of Abkhazia, was forced to prematurely stop his meeting with residents of the village of Machara, Gulripsh District, because of the conflict of the audience with him. The reason was in an activist's question about the agreement on the transfer of the state dacha in Pitsunda to Russia.

At the building of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Tbilisi, the youth wing of the oppositional "United National Movement" (UNM) Party has held an action, at which they demanded to present the transfer of the above state dacha in Pitsunda to Russia, the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel reports. Some of the protesters held posters reading "Have you forgotten 1992-1993?"

Let us remind you that in 1992-1993, there was a Georgian-Abkhazian war. According to the Abkhaz Ministry of Defence (MoD), more than 2700 people perished; and over 5000 suffered. About 200 people are still considered as missing. On the Georgian party, which treats the war as an operation to preserve its territorial integrity, more than 10,000 militaries and civilians perished; 300,000 people were expelled from Abkhazia.
