Yerevan metro operators demand higher wages

The work of Yerevan metro was suspended for several hours after machinists refused to go to work, demanding higher wages.

According to the Yerevan metro administration, this morning all the stations closed after train machinists went on a strike.

Bosses began negotiating with machinists so that they would return to their duties as soon as possible. As a result, the work of the metro resumed a few hours later.

The Yerevan metro named after Karen Demirchyan consists of 10 stations and has a total length of over 12 kilometres. The metro fleet has 45 wagons, the "ArmenPress" informs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on May 18, law enforcers detained over a dozen participants in a disobedience action that paralyzed the work of Yerevan metro.
