Azerbaijan reports shootouts in Nagorno-Karabakh

During the past 24 hours, positions of Azeri militaries were shelled for seven times from the territories controlled by the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as twice near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Azerbaijani soldiers opened a return fire, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan are regularly blaming each other of shelling. Thus, on July 16, Azerbaijan stated that Armenian militaries, acting from the border area, subjected to intensive fire the positions of Azerbaijani soldiers in the Kelbadjar District. Armenia refuted this information.

"Twice during the past 24 hours, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed near the settlement of Minkend in the Lachin District were shelled from the Armenian border area. Seven other incidents were committed from the territories where Russian peacemakers are deployed," the Azerbaijani MoD asserts.

According to the MoD, Azerbaijani positions in Terter, Agdam, Khodjavend and Khodjaly Districts were shelled weapons of various calibres. Azerbaijani soldiers opened a return fire, the MoD has added.
