Relatives call for release of those convicted in “Terter case”

Those convicted in the “Terter case” should be released, and those who tortured them should be brought to justice, said relatives of the prisoners at a rally in Baku.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 16, relatives of those convicted in the “Terter case” held a protest action with the demand to review the case and punish those guilty of using torture.

On November 1, 2021, the General Prosecutor’s Office recognized the torture of the defendants in the “Terter case”, and on December 18, the resumption of criminal proceedings on their complaints about torture was announced. In April 2022, the General Prosecutor’s Office terminated a case on high treason against military man Elchin Guliev, who died during the investigation.

“Our children were sentenced to 18-20 years of imprisonment, although they are not guilty of anything. They say that the case is being reconsidered. Eight months have already passed, and there are no results of the consideration. At the same time, those who tortured the arrested men are still at large,” one of the female participants of the rally said..

On December 7, 2021, the relatives of the convicts tried to hold a protest action in front of the presidential administration of Azerbaijan with the demand to reconsider the sentences, but the police dispersed the protestors.
