Tbilisi residents oppose park territory development

Several dozen residents of the Tbilisi Mukhiani district took out to the streets in protest, demanding the cancellation of the construction of five high-rise buildings in place of the park. The protesters assert that this territory is the only green area in the district.

The place where authorities have allowed the build the houses has been the only leisure place for Mukhiani residents for many years. The protesters demand from the city Mayoralty to buy out the territory and make a park instead of high-rise buildings. Residents intend to protest until their demands are met, the "Batumilebi" outlet informs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on June 6, several dozen residents of the Tbilisi district of Chugureti district blocked the road in protest, demanding from authorities to restrict motor traffic. Authorities fail to react to complaints that citizens' houses are being destroyed due to the heavy traffic of trucks and buses, while the streets are not designed for such a load, the protesters assert.
