Two drivers blown up by mines in Azerbaijan

In the Khodjavend and Djebrail Districts of Azerbaijan, mine explosions have wounded two drivers; one of them is in grave condition.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 11, the European Union (EU) announced the provision of additional 4.25 million euros to Azerbaijan for the demining works.

Shamil Mamedov, born in 1996, a truck driver of the "Azersun" Agro-Industrial Holding, was seriously wounded, when he hit a mine in the Djebrail District, the press service of the Azerbaijan General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has reported.

Another incident occurred in the Khodjavend District, where Yalpiri Yyldyrai, a Turkish citizen born in 1987 and an excavator operator, was blown up by a mine.

In connection with the latest incidents, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has urged citizens to observe security measures and avoid dangerous areas.

After the 2020 Karabakh war, when mines exploded in the territories that came under Azerbaijan's control people are regularly killed and wounded. Thus, on June 19, Ali Shukyurov, a sapper, was wounded by a mine explosion in the Djebrail District.
