Activist detained at a pacifist picket in Krasnodar

The police detained Alexander Aksyonov from Krasnodar, who wanted to hold a pacifist picket in front of the building of the Kuban administration, human rights defenders reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 4, the administrative liability was introduced for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, and activists, including those in Kuban, began to be prosecuted under this article. By June 7, according to the human rights defenders, Kuban entered the top three leading regions in terms of the number of cases on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The main danger of the new article is that a repeated violation within a year implies criminal prosecution, advocate Mikhail Benyash has explained.

In Krasnodar, the police detained Alexander Aksyonov, who went out to a solo picket in front of the administration of Kuban with a poster containing a pacifist appeal, the “OVD-Info”* human rights project reports.

“Now the man is being taken to a police station,” the “OVD-Info”* reports in its Telegram channel.

*The project is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in a register of unregistered public associations performing the functions of a foreign agent.
