"Georgian Dream" treats supporters of European integration as opposition's tool

Despite attempts of the protesting supporters of European integration to disrupt it, the Georgia's Cabinet of Ministers has held its sitting. The "Georgian Dream" believes that these actions serve the interests of the "United National Movement" (UNM) that aims to return to power.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that supporters of European integration have recently been regularly holding protests in Georgia, demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, and the formation of a national accord government. In the morning on July 4, supporters of European integration gathered in front of the building of the government of Georgia and demanded a number of reforms to be undertaken in the country. The protesters dispersed after Shota Digmelashvili, one of the organizers of the action, said that "the govt's sitting has failed today."

The Georgia's Govt held its sitting later that day, after protesters stopped their action in front of the government building.

Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the ruling "Georgian Dream-Democratic Movement" Party, has drawn attention to the fact that the recent events – various protest actions – indicate a deliberate creation of unrests and an attempt of the oppositional UNM to stage out a revolution, but they lack resources to implement this.

"For the radical opposition, the issue of European integration is a far-fetched shield; in fact, this topic is used to achieve their narrow partisan interests – a putsch and coming to power. They once again showed their anti-state essence," Mr Kobakhidze has stated at a briefing.
