Court awards 20,000 roubles as compensation to mother of child who died in 1999 in Grozny

The Krasnodar Territorial Court has ruled to pay 20,000 roubles to Natalia Zagudaeva, a resident of Belorechensk, as compensation for the death of her three-year-old child during the shelling of Grozny in 1999. She has treated the compensation as miserable and intends to appeal against the ruling.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that initially the court refused to compensate Zagudaeva, whose child was killed during the shelling of Grozny by federal troops.

According to her story, in April 1995, she and her husband left for the village of Sernovodskoye. In November 1999, during another operation to occupy Grozny, accompanied by artillery and mortar shelling, a shell hit the house where her family lived. On November 3, 1999, the family left the house during shelling, and a shell fell next to Zagudaeva and her child. Her son was wounded and later died.

"When the judge announced the compensation of 20,000 roubles for the death of my child and all the suffering experienced, I took it as a mockery," Natalia has stated.

She has noted that she had been waiting for a decision on compensation for three years.
