"Muslim Unity" activist arrested in Jalilabad

Rashad Aliev, a resident of the Azerbaijani city of Jalilabad, was sentenced to 15 days of arrest for disobeying the police's demands. According to law enforcers, Aliev was shouting a slogan in the street in support of the protest of Talekh Bagirzade, the leader of the "Muslim Unity", against insulting Allah by law enforcers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 3, Talekh Bagirzade went on a hunger strike, demanding to punish the law enforcers who "had blasphemed during torturing believers." By June 16, a total of 12 other prisoners had joined the hunger strike in solidarity with Bagirzade. On June 23, Bagirzade stopped his hunger strike and called on his like-minded people to do so.

Aliev's relatives have told that he was taken away from his workplace on June 22, but no one was told about this, the "Meydan TV" reported. They noted that for two days they did not know anything about his whereabouts.

Also, Aliev's relatives believe that the charges brought against him are unjustified. According to the prosecution, Aliev shouted "Punish those who scold Allah!" and pasted flyers. However, according to Aliev's relatives, he only took a photo of the leaflets pasted on walls and posted them in his social network page, the "mtv.re" outlet informs.

On June 18, three activists were detained in Sumgait after they wrote a slogan in support of Talekh Bagirzade's demands on a wall in a public place. One of them was arrested for ten days.
