Georgian MIA explains entry ban to blogger Insa Lander

Insa Lander has asked for protection from Georgian border guards, explaining that she was accused of terrorism and escaped from house arrest. However, Georgian laws allow denying entry of those who are prosecuted for terrorism, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has explained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the female blogger from Baksan, known under the pseudonym of Insa Lander, tried to enter Georgia, but border guards would not let her in; and the blogger has spent five days in the neutral territory without water and food. Back on December 9, 2021, she was detained on suspicion of assisting terrorism.

The Georgian MIA has confirmed Inse Lander's ban to enter the country, as she "provided deliberately false information about the aim of her visit."

According to the MIA, on June 13, Ms Lander demanded protection, as "she was accused of collaborating with a terrorist organization and had been placed under house arrest until the case was considered." "According to her version, she violated the rules of her arrest, took off her "bracelet" and was going to enter Georgia after passport control," the website of the Georgian MIA has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that some natives of Ingushetia, Chechnya and other North-Caucasian regions are prohibited to entre Georgia without explanations.
