Kadyrov admits problems with disabled veterans' rights in Chechnya

The information about problems with the observance of the rights of relatives of perished security officials and disabled veterans who were seriously wounded during service was pronounced at a sitting with the participation of Ramzan Kadyrov.

The head of Chechnya has held an urgent sitting on problems of disabled combat veterans, the "Grozny-Inform" News Agency reported on May 24.

According to the data from the website of the Federal Register of Disabled Persons, as of April 1 this year, there were 1596 people in Chechnya, who had received combat traumas and became disabled because of this. At the same time, in Chechnya, the proportion of those who received military wounds is almost twice as high as the average for Russia – it's 0.87% of the total number of the republic's disabled people, while the Russia's average is 0.46%.

On behalf of the head of Chechnya, Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, has analyzed the situation with respect for the rights of disabled veterans and identified a number of problems, Ramzan Kadyrov has noted.

Many disabled veterans and victims' relatives are unaware of the social benefits they are entitled to, Ramzan Kadyrov has stated. "I've instructed the officials in charge to solve all the acute problems identified in this category of citizens in the nearest future," the head of Chechnya ha stated.
