Armenian opposition urges ambassadors to reject interaction with Pashinyan

Nikol Pashinyan cannot represent Armenia and the Armenian people; the political crisis can be resolved only by his resignation, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, the Vice Speaker from the opposition at the Armenian Parliament, stated in his address to foreign ambassadors at a rally in Yerevan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since April 25, the Armenian opposition has been holding rallies, marches and motor rallies, demanding not to admit a change of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and resignation of Nikol Pashinyan's government. Thus, on May 9, at a rally in Yerevan, the opposition proposed the creation of an interim government after the Nikol Pashinyan’s power was overthrown.

On the tenth day of their protest movement, supporters of the opposition marched through the central streets of Yerevan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported on May 10. The march started from France Square in Yerevan. The protesters called on fellow citizens to join the protest movement; they chanted "Unity. Struggle. Victory".

"We need the unity of the nation; our protest movement rejects the split of the nation into friends and foes; a split in the society is unacceptable, as it hinders the country's progress," Mr Sagatelyan, who is also a member of the Supreme Body of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun", stated before the start of the march.

After the march, he called on the ambassadors of foreign countries to Armenia to inform the heads of their states that Nikol Pashinyan could no longer represent Armenia and the Armenian people. "The political crisis that onset in Armenia can only be resolved by resignation of Pashinyan and his team. The resignation is caused by the failure of the authorities' policy in the matters of security, economy and defence of national interests," Ishkhan Sagatelyan has stated.
