Number of activists detained in Yerevan reaches 61

In Yerevan, opposition supporters were detained for failure to obey lawful demands of the police, the Armenian police reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since April 25, the Armenian opposition has been holding rallies, marches and motor rallies, demanding not to admit a change of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and resignation of Nikol Pashinyan's government. Thus, on May 9, at a rally in Yerevan, the opposition proposed the creation of an interim government after the Nikol Pashinyan’s power was overthrown. Today, 35 people have been detained during marches in Yerevan.

In Yerevan, the police brought 61 activists to police departments, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent learned from Zarzand Gabrielyan, the chief of the Media Relations Department of the Armenian police. “All of them were detained for an administrative offense under Article 182 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Armenia, that is, for failure to obey a lawful demand of the police,” Zarzand Gabrielyan explained.
