Activists block bridge in central Yerevan

Law enforcers have begun detaining opposition supporters who blocked the Kyiv Bridge located in central Yerevan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that disobedience actions began in Armenia on April 25; and on May 1, after marchers from four regions of the country came to Yerevan, oppositionists announced an active phase of their protests. The thousand-strong protests are daily accompanied by detentions. On May 3, in Yerevan, protesters called on Armenian citizens to join the protests. Activists demand to prevent the revision of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and dismiss the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan.

Today, by using trucks, oppositionists have blocked the Kyiv Bridge in Yerevan, the TASS reports. The bridge links the city centre with its southern and south-western regions.

Protesters have also blocked the Davitashen Bridge and the overpass near Bagramyan Avenue.

Let us remind you that in Armenia, the mass outrage was caused by Pashinyan's statement about a possibility of "lowering the bar" on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
