Serzh Sargsyan supports protesters in Yerevan

More than 12,000 people have gathered in France Square in Yerevan demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, the non-commercial organization (NCO) named "Union of Informed Citizens" has informed. The protesters themselves assert that from 20 to 25 thousand people have gathered in the square. Serzh Sargsyan, the third president of Armenia, came to support the protesters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May, marchers from four regions of Armenia came to Yerevan and joined Pashinyan's opponents. The country's National Security Service (NSS) has announced a threat of mass riots. On May 1, protesters set up tents in France Square and went on an endless strike.

Serzh Sargsyan, an ex-president of Armenia, has come to support the protesters. Commenting on Pashinyan's statement about "the demand of the international community to lower the bar on the status issue" of Nagorno-Karabakh, Mr Sargsyan has noted that "the international community claims that the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) issue should be resolved through self-determination."
